About R.E.A.C.H

Reaffirming Ethnic Awareness and Community Harmony (R.E.A.C.H.) Retreat
For the past 13 years the Cross Cultural Center has provided the UC Davis
campus community the unique opportunity to engage in a cross-cultural and empowering weekend experience. Students, staff, and faculty dialogue and explore personal and global stories through large and small group activities. In addition to a wonderful experience, R.E.A.C.H. participants leave the retreat with knowledge of and empathy for various life experiences, which strengthens bonds among individuals, communities, and allies.

R.E.A.C.H. reflects our goal of promoting self-reflection and exploration of borders, real or perceived. The R.E.A.C.H. retreat also offers the opportunity for all of us to LEARN to question; DISCOVER connections; and ENGAGE in social justice.

In addition, you will gain leadership skills, make friends and have an unforgettable time at the only retreat on campus that allows you to connect with a wide and diverse representation of our communities.

It is a wonderful experience; we have MANY MANY applicants. Sadly, we only have room for approximately 80 people. Participants will be selected in an anonymous application process. Our Advice: Short answers do not tell us who you are. Be clear about what you don't and do understand about the 7 dimensions. Good luck.

Faculty/Staff - $100
The fee covers two and a half days of food, transportation, and lodging. Acceptable forms of payment are cash, check or department recharge accounts only -if you are accepted to R.E.A.C.H.

Each retreat is a little different. If this is your first time, you can only be a participant. For you veterans, this is our structure for this year.

Facilitator/Home Group Leader - Pairs will consist of one staff/faculty and one student. Previous attendance is not required but preferred. Provide formal support, reference, catalyst and facilitator to evolve the home group experience in respect to the 7 dimensions. They are not the "parent" or "gate keeper', but a bridge between personal development and the larger learning community.

Would you like to become a facilitator at the REACH retreat? Click the button below to apply!

Conveners - Previous attendance is not required but highly suggested. Lead the agenda flow and exercises which fit the broad modules for the WHOLE group.

Workshop - conduct one time workshops on topics related to the 7 dimensions, or wellness, or facilitate exercises for the facilitator training. May be asked to audition for the Committee. Cannot be home group leader/facilitators.

Committee - They work hard. Recruited by CCC staff from previous REACH attendees. Create the THEME, curriculum that works the 7 dimensions, Publicity (ex: speaking to BLR, CLC, SEE, Grads, and the SPAC fair) conduct participant selection, and seek Faculty keynotes. If interested, contact the CCC prior to Sept 1. Joining the committee does not guarantee attendance at REACH.

It's like being cured of a headache I didn't know I had.

Privilege and isms are so strong like fortresses. This cracks the shield.

I never realized silence could cure so much. I cried to emotions I never realized I had.
