
The 2nd Annual Symposium, 'Decolonizing Our Mind' addresses the psychological impact of institutionalized oppression upon marginalized communities at UC Davis. Through one week of community-oriented events, this symposium seeks to acknowledge the oppressive nature of under representation, institutional colonization, and the holistic psychological effects because of a lack of representative diversity.
Emphasizing the repressive effect of institutional and sociological practices and policies, this event will focus on the dynamic relationship between those oppressed and the oppressors. This event will analyze the perception dynamics associated with psychological oppression. Emphasizing the subjugation psychological oppression.
This series of events aims to identify the binary that stratifies the campus and makes for an environment that inhibits the actualization of a community in solidarity. It will seek to bring understanding to the campus community at large in relation to administrative policy and student issue polarization. The inherent goal for this event will be to call for a sense of campus wide solidarity in relation to The Principles Of Community with the emphasis and acknowledgement of issues concerning students from historically underrepresented and underprivileged backgrounds.
