The UC Davis Cross Cultural Center presents social justice activist Shaun King's talk "The New Civil Rights Movement." By using social media to discuss news of police brutality, racial discrimination and other civil rights issues, Shaun King has become an indispensable source for extending crucial conversations about social justice and equality.
King illuminates how this generation must come to grips with its own unique challenges. Instead of wondering who we'd be and what we'd do if we were alive in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, King asks us to see our present place in the modern movement for a more fair and just world.
Tickets are available online and at the Aggie Stadium ticket office beginning September 25. The talk is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Wright Hall (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) on October 18.
