Celebrating Black Futures Month at UC Davis

February is Black Futures Month, and UC Davis Chancellor Gary S. May shares a message to the campus community along with Dionica Bell, director of the UC Davis Center for African Diaspora Student Success, and Daniel Egziabher, student and community coordinator at the Cross Cultural Center. They invite everyone to check out the upcoming events during the month.

Culture Days

The Cross Cultural Center hosts Culture Days throughout the year, featuring exciting celebrations that showcase diverse cultures. Students can join the planning committees and actively contribute to these events. Contact the coordinator to get involved and help organize and host our cultural celebrations.

Danzantes del Alma

Danzantes del Alma, the student folklorico dance troupe of UC Davis established in 1977, has made it possible to celebrate traditional and contemporary Mexican, Chicano and Latino cultures through learning and performing traditional dances of Mexico and contemporary dances of the Chicano/Latino experience.

Graduate Students of Color (GSoC) Mentorship Program

This is a 2-quarter program with the goal of assisting in the retention of UC Davis graduate students from historically marginalized communities.

Peer Education and Community Empowerment (PEACE)

PEACE is a peer-to-peer education group. We are an organization run by and for students from marginalized communities.

Volunteer Internship Program

Volunteer Internship Program is an unpaid opportunity during the winter and spring quarters. Interns will be assigned to a Coordinator to plan a specific event or work with the CCC activity. V.I.P Interns help to spread awareness of culturally relevant topics impacting educational equity under their coordinator. All V.I.P Interns will be assigned to work with a specific coordinator based on their interest or participation in other communities being hosted. Becoming a V.I.P Intern is ideal for folks that are passionate about raising community awareness and who seek to build their public speaking, leadership skills, team building, and planning abilities.
