Joe 24-25

Joe Martinez

Joe (They/He) identifies as a Mexican American first-generation college student who grew up in the Southern California area. Joe earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science at the University of La Verne and completed a Master's Degree in Organization Communication at the University of the Pacific.  He has 18 years of experience in the UC system with previous positions at the Riverside and Santa Cruz campuses and over 25 years in CA Higher Education. He supports the CCC team as they stive to create compassionate community spaces that foster identity development, critical consciousness, and collective innovation through community empowerment and social justice. 

Olivia 24-25

Olivia Hernandez

Olivia (Fluid) identifies as a second generation Mexican-American, Fat, Femme, Queer, Xicana, Belonging and Inclusivity Educator, Artivist and Creative. She loves connecting about screen printing, fierce fabulosity in all capacities, tenderness, Disability Justice, Body Empowerment, Music, Art, Fashion, Tarot and food. As the Associate Director of the CCC she supervises the three program coordinators and supports the Peer Education and Community Empowerment (PEACE ) group  as well as the daily operations, programs, collaborations and resources that the center has to offer throughout the year.

Makhi Jones

Makhi Jones (He/Him/His) is a first-generation African American graduate of the University of California, Davis, where he earned a BS in Clinical Nutrition. He is dedicated to serving the Black Diaspora and MENASA (Middle Eastern, North African, and South Asian) communities at the Cross Cultural Center, working to enhance retention and graduation rates for these groups. During his undergraduate years, Makhi gained valuable experience as a personal trainer at the Activities and Recreation Center and served as a Community Advisor for the African American and African Diaspora floor. He was also involved in organizations including Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc., the Black Student Union (BSU), and Camp Kesem. He also serves as a mentor with Improve Your Tomorrow where he focuses on supporting Males of Color in higher education, addressing the challenges they face in achieving their academic goals.

Tatum Phan

Tatum Phan (she/her) identifies as Vietnamese-American. She grew up in Dayton, Ohio and received her Bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University. She earned her doctoral degree in counseling psychology from the University of Oregon and completed her pre-doctoral internship in psychology and post-doctoral residency at UC Davis. Tatum joined Student Health and Counseling Services as a CAPS Community Counselor in August 2013.

Monica Robles

Monica (she/her/ella) is as Chicana, educator, advocate, and a first generation college graduate.  Driven by a desire for understanding her own history and a passion for social change she  earned her BA in Latin American Studies and Sociology from California State University, Chico. Her academic and personal journey profoundly shaped her approach as an educator and community advocate. She spent 10 years as an educator in alternative education; she was committed to addressing the conditions and barriers students experienced in the traditional school system. Additionally, Monica has been involved with the grassroots organization Brown Issues as an advisor engaging and equipping young students with the resources and tools necessary to becoming civically engaged leaders. By empowering students to advocate for change, she strives to create more equitable and inclusive communities for all.
