Program Purpose
Graduate and Professional Student Mentorship Program aims to address the barriers that have prevented the full participation of educationally disadvantaged students at the U.S. graduate and professional level, including women, domestic minority students including African American/Black, Latinx/Chicanx, and Native American, LGBTQIA+ individuals, individuals with disabilities, and other members of groups underrepresented in graduate and professional education and academia. Through faculty and staff mentorship and other social and academic programming, the Graduate and Professional Mentoring Program holistically supports its graduate and professional student participants as they navigate the rigors of graduate and professional school.
Program Expectations
Faculty and staff mentors and graduate and professional student mentees will use any preferred medium to meet at least once a month.
Faculty and staff mentors and graduate and professional student mentees will complete the Graduate and Professional Mentoring Program quarterly assessment (Google form) at the end of the winter and spring quarters.
Faculty and staff mentors and graduate and professional student mentees will strive to attend at least one program-sponsored social event per quarter.
Faculty and staff mentors and graduate and professional student mentees will communicate with the Graduate Student Retention Coordinator should any difficulties or challenges arise in the mentoring relationship.
Program Applications
The Graduate and Professional Mentoring Program pairs faculty/staff mentors with graduate/professional student mentees. This is a two-quarter commitment (Winter & Spring).
Applications are now closed for the 2024-2025 school year. Applications will reopen in Fall 2025.
